Mohamed A. Yusuf Charged with Vehicular Homicide and Felony Hit-Run

It took five and a half months for police to identity and charge 20 year old Mohamed A. Yusuf with vehicular homicide and felony hit-run, after he plowed into 63 year old Rob Mason in July of 2022. Robb was driving his electric bike home from work in the West Seattle area, while he was tragically struck by Yusuf's vehicle, which was going 50 mph in a marked 25 mph zone, and killed instantly. Yusuf fled the scene, but was later identified through his car debris at the scene, security video from neighborhood cameras and the metro bus, and his phone activity, including searches and links related to the case. Yusuf has no criminal record and has not been arrested; the case was filed on a “summons” basis, and he is under orders to appear for arraignment next Monday January 9th, in King County Superior Court.
