5 Killed in Single-Car Crash on 710 Fwy in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA — Five people died, and one was severely injured in a single-car crash on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach early Monday, June 26th, 2023. The collision occurred just after 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the 710 freeway, near the 91 Freeway connector.
The ill-fated vehicle, a black Hyundai Sonata, was carrying six passengers and traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the median and caught fire, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Several crash victims were involuntarily ejected from the Hyundai upon impact; one juvenile was among the deceased. The lone crash survivor, an adult, suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. All northbound lanes of the 710 freeway were temporarily closed Monday morning as CHP investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
